My son was tired of working third shift and applied for jobs at three manufacturing facilities in New Hampshire starting about a month ago. He was interviewed by every one of them and received offers from two of them. He is having an second interview with the third company as I write this. I'm a bit nervous about his move because his leading offer is from GE. We all know what problems they are having. But he would be working at their best division and from everything I read there is not much chance that it would be closed down. Sold perhaps, but not closed. In any event, it seems like what little manufacturing we have in this country is doing well at the moment.

Good luck to your son! Did not realize he lived in NH.

It appears that one of the big reasons Amazon chose Crystal City is that Virginia is making a huge investment in high tech education. Virginia Tech will be building a campus there. Virginia did not offer nearly the incentives of many other bidders, but availability of a highly educated workforce was paramount in the considerations.

How many smarts does it take to pack a box? (sorry couldn't resist)

^ That's Nashville. I think half the jobs at the new headquarters will be high tech. I believe I saw that the average salary will be about $150K.
