The end of the S?
I don't know if any of y'all saw this, but in the January issue of Road & Track there is the following statement:
"In the meantime, the lackluster-selling S2000 may face cancellation in 2006 or 2007-unfortunately with no successor in the pipeline"
"In the meantime, the lackluster-selling S2000 may face cancellation in 2006 or 2007-unfortunately with no successor in the pipeline"
I saw that. There have been a couple of other reports along that line, saying the same thing about the S and the NSX. One I think is in the current issue of Sports Car International.
The report is that Honda's current management wants to concentrate on SUV and truck models (read high profit), and downplay the company's performance image.
I'll dig up the article this evening and summarize it then.

I've heard that one too, from a Honda salesman most recently. He said it would be discontinued in 2007 but that the replacement was very hot. Anybody else pick up a copy of Concept Cars? I have seen it in Costco and they show a Dualnote. It's a Honda Concept car that has a two-tone paint job and is a four-seater but it's not your Accord car.

Well, Honda does keep on innovating and moving on. The Prelude is gone as is the old original S from the 60's.
Don't forget the vehicle that put Honda on the map. The scooter from the early 60's was gone from their product line up for years.
All good things must come to an end? On the other hand that will make the S2000 so much more collectable than an Accord

As I said before, I hope they make it, and let it continue to evolve, forever. I think it stays more valuable if it's known and available. I think parts and repairs remain available, and if I ever need to replace my little S, I hope there's a new one for me to buy.

As I turned 40,000 miles on my 03 on Monday. I am hoping that I can get the same mileage out of this Honda as we did the last one (253,496)
At the rate of 2,000 miles per month that I have put on the S since 16 Apr 03 that gives me 10.56 years if the S last as long (Rob should love this stuff
) So, what will I be able to buy in 2014? I guess that only time will tell. Hmmm? A total electric car with a zero to sixty speed of three and a half days? Or a totally new hydrogen car that produces pure water as exhaust (as on the ISS now)?
BTW, my crystal ball is in the shop for repair, waiting for a part right now.
