Default Eye Question

I had a routine eye exam yesterday and the physician said my eye pressures were high (24) and there is unusual "cupping" in my eyes. The right is worse than the left, but both are abnormal. I'm scheduled for glaucoma tests soon. Anyone here have any experience with this? On a happy note, my vision has improved and my peripheral vision is fine.

Val.

Both my Mom and Rick's Mom had glaucoma. I know they did more testing to see if treatment was needed or if they (the doctors), would simply monitor the pressure in the eyes. I can't remember what the testing was.

Both of them needed treatment and had good results with laser surgery. They also were prescribed some eye drops, for continued use, and had the pressure in the eyes checked at certain time frames.

Good luck with the testing.

The two of us hope everything turns out all right. Let me know if there's anything we can do.

Val,
My dad who is 86 just went to the Ophthalmologist for the first time in about 40 years. His eyes have been tearing for many years. He has always claimed it was allergies. Through observation I thought he was not seeing very well. Since Mom's not around anymore to watch him, we're finding out many things that he's not doing and should be. We dragged him there and to a regular MD for a complete check up. Actually he is in pretty good health.

Anyway, the MD almost fell over when he saw the pressure in his eyes. He found Glaucoma also. He has him on medication for the pressure and it is coming down slowly. My dad claims his head is not fuzzy any more. What ever that means???
But his eyes look 100% better and are no longer tearing. So we still have to wait for the pressure to go down more so he can be fitted with a new eye glass prescription. But he is doing much better. I hope you fair as well.

Well that's good to know for when you look around to see if I'm trying to catch up with you on the road (as if that's possible ).

Seriously though, it's like anything else with these aging bodies, you just have to stay on top of it. Sounds like you've got a good doctor. You'll be fine!

Edit: And grandson #2, don't go giving her any ideas!

That was the FIRST THING my oldest daughter said!!! You know what though, I'd have no idea where to get that treatment. Should I just hang out on downtown street corners and watch for people with little brown bags? I'm totally clueless, but it would probably be quite helpful for my anxiety issues as well, right?
