Default The Fall Offensive

Hello one and all.

I wanted to start a new thread on weight loss and fitness. The fat thread was a great way for me to lose weight and I am so happy that many of you joined in and lost some weight as well. I found the dialy reports and encouragement to be very helpful to my own program and I hope it helped all of you. I know there are clubs you can join and apps you can down load that also serve the purpose of tracking progress and lending support, but this forum took care of all that stuff for me.

Over the summer I pretty much maintained my new weight. I would gain back a few pounds on the weekend and then knock them off during the week. Now that summer is nearly over, I an planing a new program for the fall. The goal is to take off the last 10 or so pounds of fat and to build strength, muscle and endurance. I know the holidays are just around the corner and I want to go into them LOSING weight, not gaining weight. I want to be in BETTER shape, not worse shape when the new year rolls around. I woulld like my new Years resolution to be simply "keep doing what you are doing."

So how will this work? Very much like the last thread. For me, I'll still be watching what I eat and how much I eat and I'll still be exercising. That will be phase 1. After I lose 10 or 15 more pounds, it will be time to try to build up. That will be phase two. Sensible eating backed with more/different/better exercise.

As with the last thread, I'll explain what I'm doing and how well I'm sticking to it and report the progress. I hope all of you join in with whatever plan you have. You don't have to share my goals. We can just keep each other company on the road to better fitness. I plan to get started Monday of next week (9/23).

Who's in?

I'm still here doing the same stuff. Weight is the same, up a few. I'm more able to do some of the "floor work" in the early class at the Y, though push ups, (even modified) or some of the other stuff that requires shoulders/ arms to take body weight are not high on my to do list.

Life and things are getting in the way a bit. For now, I've given up one night of Zumba per week, but I'm making up for it by doing 3/4 of the early class at the Y on Tuesday and Thursday before Zumba, so I'm still exercising plenty.

We're heading into a vacation first week of October.....I may have to play "catch up" with the healthy habits when we return.

Glad to hear you have done so well, Bill. Now when can we screw you up a bit and go out for dinner with you and Barbara??!!

I'm still walking, riding my stationary bike and doing some toning on the upper torso with weights. Plan to continue. I've maintained my weight loss really well. Still need to take off some more.

Hit the bike this morning, working on upping the resistance level instead of just flexibility.
Need to get the knees working better.

Took the summer off and have gained 6 lbs. I plan to start up on the treadmill and diet again. I'd like to lose another 10-15, and then concentrate on maintenance.

I was doing well on my program this spring; then, the kitchen/dining area/living room remodel project disrupted everything. We hired the work done, but the clutter that resulted from putting EVERYTHING from those three areas into the remaining 3 rooms of the house was a disaster for me. I could use a little extra motivation as I try to begin the program again.

Just finished the 75 mile Bike To Bay MS ride with my best time ever. 4.5 hours, avg speed 16.8mph, 15-20mph headwind. Burned 2700 calories. This ride raised over 1mil for MS (most important data) and our team was the 2nd highest fundraiser at over 10K. Taking a nap after some brews.
