Feeding the Birds
#2281
I have been putting out sunflower seeds sprinkled with hot sauce. Haven't seen a squirrel yet.

We don't consider squirrels a problem and we have all types... grays, reds, blacks, etc. Only twice in the past ten years or so has a squirrel figured out how to do a massive leap from a tree branch into a bird feeder. Fun to watch but we just snipped the branch.

I don't have trouble with the squirrels on the feeders (spring loaded feeders have worked), however the chipmunks freely indulge. I haven't tried hot sauce, but various pepper. Not much success there...maybe the hot sauce would work.
The squirrels will go after the suet, they have no interest in this one.

There was also a sighting of a bird not expected in these parts. I haven't gone chasing after it yet. It's been seen on Cape Cod.
The Vermillion Flycatcher, typically found along the U.S. southern border, Mexico and South America, has shades of bright orange and red.

I need to go out and fill two of the feeders. I think I better tie a rope to myself if I expect to make it back to the house!

It appears the hawks and owls are eating good. There are four piles of Morning Dove feathers in our back yard!
