Come on guys. Lets get it right. Peanut butter and marshmallow fluff was a "fluff-er-nutter".
The one dish that only my mom could and still does make is stuffed breast of veal. Tomato sauce, green peppers, slow roasted, and a special home stuffing

Anybody remember them? They hit the market during the heyday of the Apollo program. Chewy dehydrated-tasting semi-chocolate stuff...they were a lunchbox standby.
Now they're lost in the mists of junk food history.

As a kid and even now, I love cottage cheese mixed a bit with applesauce. I fed it to my kids and I think my 17 year-old daughter still eats it.
I also liked Spun Honey and peanut butter sandwiches. My kids liked it when they were little too.

My father grew up during the depression and as you can imagine both money and food were in short supply. One of his favorite snacks was a "mustard sandwich". He'd take a slice of rye bread and spread mustard on it. That was it. We all thought it was funny, but he said that sometimes that was all the family had to eat and he acquired a taste for it.
As a kid I used to love Lemon & Lime soda. I haven't seen it in years. I still can find Dr. Browns cel-ray (celery) soda, and buy every time I see it.
I haven't had a real egg-creme in years.

Of course, in the 50's fresh white bread was about the only thing available! My spinster aunt was the bookkeeper in a local bakery, and would send us PINK or GREEN bread at Easter time
