Default Ford GT40 that I could love!

Ford unveiled the Ford GTX1 at the SEMA Show. Its innovative four-panel removable roof system can be configured as a coupe, t-top or full convertible.

The GT40 was the only Ford I ever loved. Saw one run at VIR in the 60s. I wanted one bad. All I could afford was my 57 TR3.

I have fond memories of Ford's effort to "prove their point" in beating Ferarri at LeMans back in the mid 60's. Unfortunately, in typical fashion ABC sports only covered LeMans for about three years, while there was American participation.

But, I still remember the first day of coverage when ABC discovered that their chartered helicopter could not keep up with the cars on the Mulsanne Straight. On Sunday, they had arranged a chartered business jet as the air cam vehicle.

Only one you could ever love? How could not love the '32 Ford Roadster! The original hot rod for me. Or the Ford Mustang GT 350?

Nope, no sale. If its not the GT40 (or the new GT) I don't want it.

I saw the car live today (I was at the show). I'll have PLENTY of pictures to show as well. Ford also had a 1940 coupe with a body formed entirely of copper on display. What was really interesting was to see the modern GT40 drivetrain and engine poking out when you saw the back of the car.

The Mazda dealer tried the same crap with me when I was sizing up the RX8. Said they could get 5K over sticker. I said not in my lifetime. I told him that I'll keep driving my FC until they come down off the high horse. I then bought the S. I made a point of stopping by his place and pointed out what a fine machine I have. I also let him know the Honda dealer was willing to negotiate the price of a new S. Gave me a good feeling to see the expression on his face.
