Forest Fighting tidbit
Since I live in the arctic as some people think, our forest fighting season is essentially over. I have a Government job (lucky me, not so bad though) with the Ministry of Environment. One of my duties is to manage our purchase card program (credit cards) for the ministry. I have been busy yesterday and today ensuring a few of our guys have all their credit card limits and transaction limits sorted out as our ministry was asked for help by the US Government for fire fighting support. We have aircraft on the tarmac somewhere in Idaho waiting for deployment, plus a team of very educated people to be sent where needed.
I thought this was kind of neat. We have sent people over the years to Colorado and California. In Canada there is a Canada wide agreement to share and support services across the provinces. The MARS agreement allows cross boarder support quickly and easily.
