For the first time in 4 weeks I got a good night's sleep. 8 hours!!!! I finally called my GP about my insomnia who ordered a script and it worked.
Should have done that a couple weeks ago but better late than never.

When I won the car I started to wonder if I had to pay taxes on it, but I do not. VW Canada pays for the entire vehicle including the taxes, destination and delivery, transfer and licensing and dealer fees, so it will be zero cost to me, I just pick up the keys and drive away. Mine is the top of the line ID.4 Pro S with extended battery and AWD, I just found out it that my car has the heat pump option, and full panoramic glass roof (not a fan of glass roof, it is massive but has a shade, it does not open). Those added options add another $2k-3K to the value, topping out around $65k plus taxes.
Will you get hit with any kind of gift tax or have to consider it added income, which of course is alway taxed?

Dave-

Good to hear!

How ironic... I've been super busy with the Make A Wish event coming up and an early trip to the airport mid-week to drop Cindy off.

Got home normal time for me last night from darts - call it 12 ish. Woke up at 5, rolled over then it was 930. Missed a morning work call for maybe the first time ever. I don't use an alarm clock, I just wake up. I guess I needed the sleep?!

No we don't have such a tax here. I know in the US people who win big ticket items pay tax. No lottery winnings tax here, no winnings tax at casinos, almost no inheritance tax either, we get a few breaks despite us being taxed up the rear end in daily life.

Many refugees who immigrate here end up leaving because it is too expensive to live here now. That's pretty bad when a refugee says adios to your country after they risk their lives getting here.

No David, you really aren't. We really get taxed up the rear end here. We have a carbon tax - better known as the Trudeau tax - it just went up 23% April 1st and it is killing us since inception. They want to increase this tax another 300% in coming years , it is a shit-show and we need a change in government asap. We pay so many more taxes than in the US .

The only thing we don't do worse on is lottery winnings, other contest winnings, casino winnings, and inheritance , the items that are not taxed here. I got lucky but few people win contests or lotteries in general. My odds of winning were one in 16 million, I was the only person in the country who won the vehicle prize.

YAY!!!!

the excruciatingly long odyssey of fixing the microwave has ended.
It's finally working and reinstalled.

I had a funny thought as I was cleaning it up and cleaning those ugly spots while I had it apart.
Service techs must be called into some really vile situations sometimes where people haven't cleaned the microwave routinely. ( re: ever)

When I worked for my F-I-L repairing appliances we came across some nasty things but if he saw one cockroach or evidence of same we were out of there!

I got a lot of stuff done or completed today. I call that good news.

I flew from CO to CA yesterday (Tuesday) and when I turned on my sprinkler system that had been off for months, I heard and then saw a strong spray from a split pipe that was flooding the backyard. Not another thing to get fixed.

My trip here for 8 days, was to get seven windows replaced in my house, get my 2005 NSX windshield repaired, pick-up a new ElliptiGO I ordered, from headquarters in Solana Beach, and go to NSX WestFest.

My windshield repair was started around 8:30 am Wednesday. The window crew showed up just as the Safelite guy was finishing the windshield. I was able to leave the window guys working and I drove to Solona Beach (San Diego) and picked up my new white ElliptiGO. (I thought I was going to have to do that next Monday.) About an hour after I got home the windows were all done. I had texted a sprinkler guy I've used before, last night, and he came and put in a new pipe and fixed the leak at close to 5 PM. Great to get that all done in one day!

But then, I received a couple of emails and found out that just today (Wednesday), the Kubota generator I have up at Kennedy Meadows was working and back in the shed there, after it was removed and taken to Ridgecrest to be fixed with a new stator. Yay!

Now I can ride my new ElliptiGO before driving to the hotel tomorrow afternoon. There are 48 NSX owners/drivers registered to be at the event. Well be doing scenic drives in San Diego County and going as a group to Cars and Coffee in San Clemente on Saturday. It wouldn't be a Kyras post without photos...

^ We just had two bathroom windows replaced, the original windows were such a cheap design. The two sliders were freezing cold in winter and noisy as the weatherstripping was horrible. We just replaced them with single lever casement windows and they seal up so much better.

I went to visit my mother today. On the Mother's day visit I gave her some lottery tickets inside a card. Today she was very excited to tell me that she won $50 and a free-play lottery ticket from the ones I gave her in her card, lol. She gets very excited when she wins stuff, lol. In the last few months she won several door prizes (gift baskets) at some dances she attended , so she has been doing good. She loves to dance and can really dance up a storm from what I am told, she is almost 88 years old.
