Default Good places to cruise/vacation

Hi !

We are planning a few long weekends in July and August and a week in September.

We were wondering about good places to cruise and vacation.
We live in Massachusetts, so thought Vermont may be good for a long weekend with scenic drives, but wondered where you folks have ventured to in your vehicles.

For September we thought of heading to the south. Maybe Ocean City, MD, as we like the beach. Any suggestions from you people?

We'd like to keep the total drive to around eight - ten hours.

Well, I think the coast of Maine is spectacular and not that far for you. I love Ogunquit and Boothbay Harbor. If you want to go South, I think I'd head for Cape May before I'd go to Ocean City. If you want the OC area, I think Rohobeth and Bethany are nicer. You've got lots of possibilities - I'm sure people who live up your way can give you great roads to drive.

Thanks!

We've done the Ogunquit/coast of Maine many times, and may head back there. It's a favorite spot of ours, and only about 2 1/2 hours from here. We were there last summer...... in the rain!

Thanks for the tip should we decide to head to Maryland. I'm going to make a note of those areas, and I've heard of Cape May as well.

Right now, we are leaning to cruising a bit closer to home. Westerly RI is also a favorite, maybe in Vermont in September.

A good long drive would be down through Maryland into Virginia over the Chesapeake Bay-Bridge into the Hampton roads area. Nice scenery and you could have fun in VA.

Lainey, pm Munch in the NE forum. He has a great route up in NH that he took us on. It ran the backroads up to lake Winnepesaukee. Really nice roads.

The Jersey shore is nice but the drive there isn't inspiring. Some of the nicest drives I've been on were in upstate New York and Pennsylvania. You might want to pm Jerry (pas2k) for some routes.

It would be a pretty LOOOONG weekend for you but I would recommend Monterey for the Historic Automobile Races in August.

You are right.....that's a long weekend. Don't think we'd see Monterey in the "S" unless the "S" is driven into a 747 for transport! Then we could hit the roads there!
