I found her (it's a girl) enjoying my orchids this morning.
What kind is it? It doesn't look quite right for a gopher tortoise.

Is there a biologist in the house?

Looks like a Box turtle.

 

Its actually a 3 striped mud turtle

 

Thanks I've never seen one before.

When I picked it up it was as shown. I thought it was a tortoise because it looked like a hinged carapace. I couldn't see the head or feet. Only other thing I noticed was the egg v in the back.

It's out there in the yard somewhere. I'll see it again It must like my orchid misters.
