Got a computer question - Ask a geek
Linux is great. Fast and lean. But if you want to speed up Windows, just format* your hard drive and re-install it. It will be pretty brisk for at least the first 10 or 20 minutes.
*Don't actually do this unless you know what the term "backup" means, as it relates to computer files.

A Facebook Friend said she read in Nature today thatpassword fatigue is significantly related to telomere shortening and that having to recite email/phone/mothers maiden name/last 4 SSN more than 5 times in 24 hours causes sleep disruption and increased levels of aggression.

Nothing like reviving an older thread!
Tried putting an older version of Autocad (v10) onto a Win 8 laptop. Win 8/Autocad would not allow it.
Looks like I would need to install Win 7 onto the laptop and then install Autocad 10.
Before you say upgrade Autocad, the person using the program does NOT want to try and learn a newer version, or pay the cost of the newer version!
Looking into this, it looks like I have maybe a couple of options:
1. Install Win 7 into a dual boot environment. Problem here, is MS says you really should install the older OS first, that installing the older OS second, could cause booting issues.
2. Try to set up using a virtual environment for Win 7 and Autocad 10.
Has anyone tried either of these? Installed Win 7 for a dual boot environment on a Win 8 machine? Or using one of the virtual environment programs?
Which works best, easier to install?

They of course will need to learn how to use that and of course, there could be a license fee.
Good Luck!

Look how old that computer is...I used to have that setup about 25 years ago. Not sure if the rage factor would be reduced or increased these days.
