Default Halloween Candy

Halloween is next week. Do you expect Trick or Treaters where you live? Do you welcome them, or do you turn out the lights and hide in the TV room, den, or basement?

We get a fair amount of Trick or Treaters and I enjoy the evening. Every year I buy more candy than I need. Hershey's bars, Kit Kats, Milky Way, M&M's. I'm always left with candy I like, but I really try not to eat too much of it. I try, but fail. I love chocolate. I usually bring some of the left overs to work, but not until I feel guilty about how much I've eaten.

This year I took a different approach. Most kids like M&M's and most kids I know seem to like pretzels. I like M&M's, I always have some in the house and it's the one candy that I can eat, and control my consumption. I like pretzels too. I bring some to work for a snack daily. Yesterday I went shopping for Halloween. I bought M&M's and pretzels in snack size, packaged for Halloween.

Problem solved.

Do you deal with a chocolate surplus after Halloween?

We have very few trick or treaters. We only have five houses on our street and one is under construction. I'll buy some good Hershey candy and make sure the porch and sidewalk are clear. Oh, I also hang my Pumpkin flag so I look friendly!

We havn't had any trick or treaters here in about 10 years. I do like Laineys idea of buying a bag of M & M's, it would go a long way if needed.

We had about 50 kids last year [the first year for us in this house] and almost ran out of stuff. Bought enough for 70 this year. Based on the fact that recent studies have shown that chocolate is REALLY good for you we're hoping for a few leftovers.

We get 3 Trick or Treaters. Dad escorts them. We buy a six pack of full size candy bars. Each kid gets one, dad gets one, that leaves 1 each for my wife and myself.

Hope you don't get tired answering that doorbell all evening.

I guess you won't be spending the average $72.00 that folks spend on Halloween. I heard that one on the radio this AM.

We're 500' off a dark, 45mph, country road. The largest number we've had in the past was about 7.

We get between 125-150 every year.....

Buy the fun size or something like that.... get 3 100 count bags at Sams Club...

Give out 2-3 pieces per kid, depending if they are cute or not!

Normally do not end up with lots left over.

Mike,
You only buy the candy in an attemp to get the little ones near your house.
