Basic in Lackland (of course), tech school at Sheppard in Wichita Falls, Tx, then PCS back to San Antonio, Security Service command HQ at Kelly AFB (Kelly anax, aka Kelly hill, and finally to Blythville AFB (SAC) in Arkansas. Also did a TDY stint up in Plattsburgh AFB in Plattsburgh, NY. on a "STAN" team converting the base from a Burroughs B-263 computer system to a B-3500.

This "southern boy" spent the first 19 years of his life in the Eire-Ontario snow belt. That was plenty, thank you very much. And if you want to talk tough, come on down to New Orleans in August.

I spent a summer in Columbia SC. thank you.
That experience baked enough humidity into me for life.
I've been in Tampa in August, during a tropical storm.
I'll keep my pale white butt in the cooler climes.
