Yeah like I said before it was always a big deal in Rhode Island with the feasts and everything but around here in Vt nobody knows what it is. I bet Harry (hecash) does and maybe some members from Jersey.

There are two feast days for St Joseph: St. Joseph the Husband of Mary on March 19th, and St. Joseph the Worker on May 1st. However, when St. Joseph’s feast day on March 19th falls on a Sunday it is moved to the Monday and celebrated on March 20th.

St. Joseph was a descendant of Israel’s King David and a carpenter by trade. Scripture tells us that he was a just and virtuous man who was betrothed to wed the young Blessed Virgin Mary. Upon finding her pregnant with the Son of God, Joseph, after a time of uncertainty, was encouraged by an angel to continue with the marriage plans. Because of his complete faithfulness and obedience to the will of God, St. Joseph was chosen to become the spouse of the Mother of God and the adoptive father of Jesus Christ. As the divinely-appointed earthly guardian and protector of the Holy Family, St. Joseph provided and cared for the material needs of Mary and the Child Jesus. St. Joseph is the patron saint of many causes, especially fathers, families, married couples, children, pregnant women, workers, craftsmen, against doubt, the dying, and a happy and holy death. He is also the guardian and protector of the Universal Church.

The Oratory of St Joseph in Montreal is spectacular, I have been there. It is the largest church in Canada and the third largest dome in the world. 2 million visitors a year see it.

Actually, the day I visited I was kind of a dolt. It was Sunday morning and I asked at the hotel bell desk, where there might be some great churches to visit that day in Montreal. They mentioned the "Oratory of St Joseph". I was not sure I knew what an oratory really was but I was game. I disembarked from the recommended Metro station and began looking for the church. I went by several but they all had different names; nothing about St Joe. I asked a passing local pedestrian where the Oratory might be. There was a look of amazement and they just pointed across the street to the giant basilica and dome of the Oratory! I had no idea it was so big! It was as if I was standing on the Mall in Washington DC and asked someone if they knew where the Capitol building was! LOL!

It was a lesson in humility. I might add however, I was in somewhat of desperate straights personally over some issues and my prayers to St Joseph were indeed answered. I am now a big fan of his intercession.

Visited there in December of 2016. Quite an impressive cathedral.
