Well, yes and no. As mikegarrison pointed out, it is possible to have a long racing career as a mid-pack driver if you're good with the sponsors. I just don't see a 'journeyman driver' getting all the hype she's getting.

Still, I think its inevitable that if she stays in the IRL, she'll win a race or two. It will get harder now that Penske has Honda, and in 2007 everyone will have the same engine.

BUT, one day it will happen: She'll be running in her usual 5-8th spot, and on the last lap the leaders will tangle. The top three are out on the spot, the next two will check up to avoid debris, and since she's 1/2 lap behind she'll streak into the lead a second after the yellow lights come on. Since this is the IRL, they'll claim whatever they need to, and anoite her the winner.

Oh Just this girl racing Indy Cars. You can tell her by the above average hype, below average breasts, above average smile, and below average racing ability.

To me, her only redeeming quality is he smile and her willingness to take some clothes off.
And your point is? But to be fair I am sure she could out drive all the males reading this thread. And if you think not, you've never done laps at Indy at any speed - I have.

When one adds to her considerable skill the pressure of being one of a kind, intense media focus, expectations that she better deliver now and the every so often predictable criticism that she hasn't won so what's all the hoopla, I think she is doing quite well at this stage in her development while under significantly more and different pressure than most of her peers.
Well, I guess my point is that you should be a proven winner BEFORE you get to IndyCars. Her failure to win a race in a car (of any kind) is a glaring problem. It's obvious to me that there are a lot of winners in the lower formula that never succeed in the higher levels, but there are few (if any) that didn't have the 'right stuff' in the feeder series that suddenly found "it" when thrust into the big leagues.

As for the media hype, she brings a lot on herself with the sexy ads and magazine pictorials. IMO if you go out looking for 'it' you shouldn't complain when 'it' is showered on you. (I've never heard her complain, others seem do it for her).

Dave, I agree, she could certainly out race all of us, it's too bad we're not her competition! BUT, I'll bite! What car did you drive around IMS!? Do we have a famous race car driver in our midst?

Only in my own mind. 1960 MGA doing 'spirited' touring. Not what you were expecting, hey. Even had to stop once for a fouled plug (just like the early racers). I've done laps there on more than one occassion and watched numerous times trials in the #4 corner plus a few races. It is one, if not the only, circle track that I hold in GREAT respect due the demands on the driver.
