I have a Retired Lt Col. Green Beret that is on his 2nd post army career (Merchant Mariner) who works with me quite a bit named (no this is not a joke) Mortimer Smedley, his last duty station was XO to the jungle training group in Panama. Just wondering if you know him?
A quick and dirty fix for the lumbar support issue in the S is to fold a towel (or foam rubber) to the desired thickness and stuff it behind the bolster in the seat. Try sliding your hand behind the section of perforated leather on the front side of the seat in the lumbar area and you'll see what I mean. You can also buy an inflatible/adjustable pillow from some aftermarket parts stores that will fit back there.
Cheers, and welcome aboard!
EDIT. I just noticed you have an 06, I'm not sure the seats are constructed the same, so if you can't slip your hand behind the cushion in the seatback don't drive yourself crazy trying, yours may be sown in differently. I'm sure you can still insert a an adjustable lumbar pillow into the seat, you may just have to pay an upholstery shop $100 or so to do it for you.

How old is he and in what years was he active? The Panama SF guys are usually a younger group of fellas than my generation. I have met a few fellows operated in Panama and South America, most are about 20 years younger than I.As for the lumbar support, I have bought a "lumbar pillow" at Pep Boys and it seems to be doing the trick. I don't drive that much anyway.
Thanks for everyone's advice!
He's in his early 60's now, but he's been out of the Army for 20 years or so. I know he spent a lot of time at Bragg, as well as in Panama. I just figured on the off chance you'd met him you'd remember him since there aren't many Mortimer Smedley's in the world.
