Q: What is the origin of "lug," in lug nut?

A: An old name for the wheel stud. (from Middle English lugge "pole or staff")

Old definition: A projection on which an object may be carried or fixed in place. "Mount the fittings directly to the lugs, on each side of the box."

In keeping with the spirit of Rob’s request, here are some that many British car owners might know.

Q – What was Donald Healey’s first car that was an immediate hit on both sides of the Atlantic?

A – Austin-Healey 100. Priced between the TR2 and Jag 120, it was strong enough to top 100 mph.
