Yeah, import tariffs have really impacted prices a lot. The receiver I bought a few years ago has jumped by almost $1000. The AudioEngine ones I have at work are used daily and I really like them. I'm glad I bought when I did, I wouldn't be able to do it now. Ftr, I got the new speakers for half off, still a lot of money, but much better than retail.

A pair of my benchmark reference speakers just came in the market..

They'd sound sweet in the great room.

B&W 706 S3s at half price? Yeah, I'd go for that if I liked the way they sounded.

One wonders when the law of diminishing returns kicks in.

Modern bookshelf speakers produce an amazing sound in a modestly sized room. especially with a good sub.

Sam, when you auditioned those speakers, how would you describe the volume?

Not excessive, moderate at best. I tend to not blast them during a demo, no louder than I would play them at home. I do play them at a volume I’d actually sit and to them at, not at a volume when I’m just playing background music at home.

Kind of hard to explain I guess
