I found that a cool source for info on some tools is the Stumpy Nubs youtube channel. He does a "cool tools" vid every now and then that I sometimes get tool ideas from. Some of the vids focus on cheaper tools and some are more expensive stuff. I overall like a lot of his video content. I picked up some of the pentel graphgear pencils and iGuaging angle gauge based upon his reviews. And of course if you like to geek out on Japanese joinery videos, Dorian Bracht's "Joint Venture" vids are pretty cool as well as the Kobeomsuk channel.
Stumpy is the best, I will check out Dorian Bracht.
Elvis is in the house. My son gave me this one. It's 1/24 scale but when I first saw it I thought it was 1/18. I'm just not use to seeing Detroit Iron in that scale as all my European cars are so much smaller in 1/24th. I thought the shadow in the model box was a neat touch.
Box 2 is done. Another 90 minutes or so to sort and 3 + hours to build. This time in several smaller chunks of time vs box 1 that I knocked out in 2 or 3 sessions. I guess I get so worried that I'm missing something that I need to sort pieces first. In the videos of people building, some just literally open bags onto the table and hunt for the piece they need.
I saw a video of someone using the Technic motor attached to the wheel hub. Turned it on, then changed the gears with the paddle shifters. The engine slowed up or sped up accordingly. Was very cool.
I like wrenching on old Hondas. I just finished this project car, it took longer and cost me more money than I wanted but it drives like it just came out of the factory. Not bad for a 25 year old Prelude. I got it on the road tonight after many months of messing with it, and it drives great.
