How about a controversial thread?

Sorry, Dean. Even if you do think psychics are frauds.
I meant the Morris Dean. There was a thread a while back on something like "What do you think happens after you die", and the Morris Dean and I talked about Sylvia Browne on it. I like her books but Morris said he met her and she is a fake. Her psychic abilities may be a fraud but her books strike the "makes-sense-to-me" chord.

Sponges are cool. From what I learned they can be put through a sieve and can put themselves back together. I took Biology 101 a couple of years ago for my single subject teaching credential in Physics
and I never worked so hard to learn. I was one of the very few A students in the lab and the class. I loved that class. My Prof. changed the way I think.
Controversial Corner!

I'm glad you got a good Bio prof. There are too many of them out there that are dry, boring, stuffed shirts who turn students off to the subject.

RJ would do a much better job of it, I'm sure.

I ran into Sponge Bobs car today on Chokoloskee Island. It didn't have a One Human Family sticker so I think he's straight.
While I was there, I did have lunch....yep...crabby pattys.
This is the only food on the whole island.

Flts - that island looks neat...is it - or are the car and restaurant pretty much it?
Yesterday my husband suggested I drive the S back and forth to Florida to be with my Mom through chemo and spend a week or 2 at a time down there and work from their house.
I may be looking for an island retreat!
It's a cool Old Florida fishing village. The island is acutally surrounded by Everglades National Park. It's right where the Everglades meet the sea.
It's a very cool little place. If you love to fish, there's nowhere better.
There are a few homes on the island, most of them are trailers as it gets washed regularly by the huricanes. The cool part about it is it's built on the remains of an ancient city about 1000 years old. 1000 years ago they estimate 10000 people lived there. The richest treasure ever found on land in the US comes from there and the surrounding islands. Treasure hunting is a hobby of mine when I get the chance.
Unfortunately the feds are always trying to make life hard for the people who live there. They are continually trying to regulate them out of existence with new Park rules under the guise of saving it for the people. They don't seem to care about the multigenerational fishing families who live there.
It's claim to fame is that back around the turn of the century the local residents shot and killed Mr Watson. He was running one way labor to a plantation he had farther into the swamp. You'd work for him but never come home. Mr Watson was famed for killing the outlaw lady Belle Starr.
There's one gas pump on the island servicing boats and cars. The cafe you see and a couple small stone crab processors. The closest city over 2000 people is 50 miles away.
On my way there yesterday I saw thousands of egrets big and small, hundreds of roseate spoonbills and even a small flock of flamingos

No, 'fraid I'm not much of a fisherwoman. I'm not into killing my own food (I have no stomach for it, so to speak)....I don't want to meet anything I'm about to eat.... (don't even think about going there).
Here are a few controversial subjects:
Feminism
Daycare in the workplace
Women in the military
Women paid equal in workplace (say, for instance, firefighters)
Tort reform
Is it okay for men to cry?
Violence on TV (or as Rosanne Rosadana would say...Violins on TV?
)
Nudity on TV and movies
Out of control teenagers (This goes along with wimpy parents)
Super Nanny... is this really neccessary?
Vegetarians vs. carnivores

Okay, those are just a few.

Here's a controversial topic for you:
The editorial section of the Wall Street Journal had some words about Venezuela today. A strong US ally in the war on drugs and terrorism has been Columbian President Uribe. It now appears that the Chavez regime in Venezuela has been providing safe haven for international terrorists that have been trying to destabilize Colombia and other South American countries using drug money (and maybe some petrodollars from Chavez) as their currency. A recent large order of automatic weapons from Russia by Venezuela does not bode well for peace in the region.
So, I say, forget about Iran. Let's invade Venezuela. Probably just about as much oil there to liberate, it's a lot closer to home (giving the higher-ups plenty of (photo) opportunities for "surprise visits" to the troops), and since Dubya speaks Spanish, he can address his freedom message directly to the people.
