There have been 5250 hits on this thread so far...guess everyone wants to know what the controversy is all about!! They must be pretty confused by now...

 

The controversy is all about controversy. Seems as clear as mud to me.

I'd call that a Christian background. I wasn't even baptized, and neither of my parents were Christian by the time I was born, but a majority of my grandparents were, as well as a majority of the neighbors.

 

Hey Cordy I was stuck on Marthas Vineyard a couple years ago. It was Winter and dismal, there was nothing to do. So I went and got a bottle of rum and a 12 pack of Coke and spent an afternoon at the Chappaquidick bridge toasting Mary Jo.

She's gone but not forgotton.

Now that's funny, considering that I was about a year old at the time and it was not performed with my parents wishes or knowledge. I saw the movie, "Moses" too. Does that mean that I have a Jewish background as well? I also listen to a lot of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh I guess I must also have a Rastafarian background.
I've always found it odd that people have no problem pinning a religious label on a child such as Muslim, Christian, Jewish, etc., and yet most would never consider describing a child as a Federalist, Nationalist, Republican, or Democrat, etc.. More often than not, one's religion is an accident of birth. I suffered no such accident.

Interesting what you said about Mary Jo, tides and such. She is gone but not forgotten--if only Kennedy could be forgotten.

I put Kennedy on the same level as Jane Fonda. Maybe Mary Jo had it easy--I wonder about these Viet Nam vets who've had to deal with Jane Fonda for years. Did you ever hear the story about how a POW tried to palm a note with the SSN's of the POW's in the Hanoi Hilton to Jane Fonda, and she handed the note over to the camp commandant?

I would LOVE to know if that is true. Okay, and the Swift Boat stuff too...

 

I suppose you guys have a point about Mary Jo, and I suppose you can mention Jane. I guess you're just looking for equal time.

Senator Joe was mentioned in relation to the scare tactics that are being used by this administration. I'm the one who said that these times remind me of those times. Deep throat came up as speculation when Nixon's secretary died. I guess you guys just had to dig up some dirt (relevant or not to the conversation) for balance.
