Talking How about the Tail of the DRAGON

Seeing this pic (see below) from Batguano (credit given ) plus my first drive of the DRAGON last Monday......leads my to see what my other friends think about this road?

What season did you drive it? Are you a repeat Dragon veteran? How many times did you do the one-way circuit? Did you drive solo, small group or WTD etc? Did you have a co-pilot and did they ask for the bag? Was the drive what you expected? What 1 or 2 tips would you offer to a novice going there for the first time? What other types of 2 or 4-wheeled vehicles were sharing the road? Were you passed by Sports Bikes on a curve....like I was

If you have any pics, please post 'em

For those who missed it in the Odds n Ends thread, here is a LINK to Bat's neat flying video

It's as close as you'll get to 'being there'

I drove it about 5 times altogether, with Jim (S1997) on May 2 and May 3, 2007. Pretty trees, fun road. I don't know if I'll ever do it again but it would be fine if I did. Just a little far from So Cal.

^Jim (S1997) and me on May 2, 2007. He drove from Texas and I drove from So Cal.

^Jim driving the Dragon on May 3, 2007.

^The tree at Deals Gap. I know there's a story about it but I need someone to fill me in.

I've been many times and enjoy the drive every time. I try and make it to the Dragon at least once a year no matter were I live. I think this would be a great place to host a vintage event. All the facilities and great roads all around.

We've not been there yet, though it's on the to do list. Hoping I don't need that bag.

I think we MAY make it part of a road trip next spring or fall. I prefer to be there mid-week, when it's less crowded, as I want to drive it myself. I don't get a ton of time behind the wheel, so I'd probably only be driving 15 mph, easier to do if it's less crowded, I'd think.

I had a great time on the Dragon only 6 days ago. The +300 tight turns in 11 miles probably exceeds the count that most of us encounter in 12 months....rather than 12 miles! I had a blast and only regret time limited me to 4 loops....the last one with my 40something nephew driving; he did pretty well as the driver....after almost losing his cookies on the initial drive with paS2K at the wheel

Jerry, I asked this somewhere else but you didn't see it. How do you get the little dragon sticker on to the windscreen? I bought a little blue one for my windscreen but I haven't figured it out. I pulled off one piece of paper and the dragon is exposed and sticky so I thought I could just press it onto the screen and pull off the other sheet of paper. But it doesn't stick. You put yours on already didn't you?
