Default How can it be September?

I truly wonder how it can be September already.

How did Rick and I both have our birthdays already? Our birthdays are so far after Christmas and Christmas was just last week. I'm CERTAIN it was just the other day when my son told us we would be grandparents again. How did that baby arrive so quickly? I swear it was JUST yesterday that Rick and I spent a ton of time planting our flowers for the spring/summer. Now some of the flowers are dying off because it's been so cool.

Why is it cool? Summer has just begun.........or so it seems. Rick and I were talking about this last night. I love the weather in New England in September, but it sure seemed like September came up faster than ever this year.

Does it seem the same to you?

Yes it does, Lainey. It seems just yesterday I was anticipating the trip to Watkins Glen, NY and now I'm anticipating an October meet already. School's back in session, the weather is cool today and just yesterday it was 100 deg. Time keeps on slippin', slippin' into the future.

Well, we got rained out in May and June then baked in July, so really, we only had decent summer weather for August.

There was that too! Our low mileage on the S this year reflects the lousy weather.

We'll put a few more on with the Gettysburg trip.

The summer did fly by. About a month of it was taken up by my dad's health probs and getting him into assisted living. Had to miss Spring Fling. Did have a fun July 4th with the sis and bro and families. Finally made a meet in Mystic, which was great. And looking forward to Gettysburg. The past two weeks at work have been insane...had to finish two huge security reports for my division. Did get a boost today when the review branch told me ours was the best by far (out of 20 or so divisions). Made all the hard work worth it!!

I wondered why you haven't been posting much, Deb. That explains it.

I am thrilled that summer is almost over. I hate summer. July was so friggin' hot here. I can take our weather here except for summer. I get downright unhappy.

You feel about summer the way I feel about winter. I wish winter would fly but, but it's the nice weather months that seem to pass more quickly. I don't like the intense heat, but it beats shoveling snow, wearing a winter coat, and shorter days.

Well, welcome to Vintage life.

As I always remind my Mother when she states: "Where does the time go?" It is perhaps the closest most of us will ever get to understanding Einstein's "Theory of Relativity".

Remember when you were a child and it seemed that the summer lasted forever? That by this time of the year, you were "ready" to get back to school. When I was entering second grade on I had less than three thousand days" under my belt". Today that number is over twenty thousand. In other words, the time slice of your life (a day) makes each passing day a smaller percentage (fraction) of your life, therefore relative to your life each day gets shorter.

Einstein put it in laymen's terms another way: "Two minutes of sitting on a hot stove seems like a lot longer time period than two minutes of kissing your girl friend"
