Flew to Dallas to pick up my NSX, then drove around 550 miles home.
While visiting family in Delaware I picked up my Miiata from the seller in St George and drove it home, Well over 1150 miles what with a detour through Nashville.

I'm 68 and have bought 1 car in my home town of Sacramento. My wife and I got her S(2010) in Medford,OR
That was around 640 miles round trip. We left our house at 4am got up there at 8 am looked the car over, took it for a test drive, paid for it and then drove home.
Our Jeep(2013), we flew into Colorado Springs,CO and bought the Jeep and drove 1400 miles home.
With our motorhome(2014) we flew into Birmingham,AL to get our motorhome that I won on a auction. We picked up the motorhome and drove it over to a tire shop for all new tires(you never know how well the old owner took care of the tires) then took a lazy 2800 mile drive home.
We saved more money on the Jeep and motorhome to more than pay for the flight, fuel and food than if we bought them at home.

I flew from New Jersey to Virginia Beach to pick up a pickup truck from my brother in law. Other than that, I've never really gone far for a car, only a few miles.

500 mile one way to Charlotte, NC for my current S2000. Saw it, bought it and drove it home the next day!

Flew to El Paso, drove the car about 5-6 miles, did paperwork with seller (private sale), and drove home to Fort Worth. 615 miles one way.

Almost 3,000 miles:from La Crescenta (LA Suburb) to Atlantic City, NJ. Kerbeck Cadillac, Chevy, Buick, GMC had what I wanted. It was on a truck going in the wrong direction from the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, KY to Atlantic City. I found it on the Corvette Forum, wired Kerbeck a deposit, arranged my own transport, Montway out of Chicago, and a week later, in spite of a snow storm on the east coast, a big ol transport pulled up in front of my house and dropped my new Vette (See my sig) in my driveway.

I have three cars that were out of state when I bought them. My used 2005 Long Beach Blue NSX was in Chicago. I flew to Chicago, met Ken Sax ( an NSX guru who volunteered to check it out with me), and handed over the cashier's check I brought with me. Ken said, "if you don't buy it I will". I had previously contacted a shipper who turned around to come back for it. It was delivered near my house in Trabuco Canyon in five days!
^3-19-2009. Delivered to Foothill Ranch, CA from Chicago, IL.
^8-20-2013. My third S2000, a used 2007 Laugna blue, delivered on August 20th after being picked up on 8-9-2013 in Raleigh, North Carolina, after someone on S2ki, who I've never in person, checked it out for me.
^2-12-2021. Taking delivery of my used 2017 Valencia Red Pearl NSX, in Lovleand, CO on a 5*F morning, from Ferrari-Maserati of Long Island. A man I never met on NSXPrime checked it out for me.

After I totaled my 2001 S in July 2021, I was lucky enough to spot on Facebook a 2008 Chicane Silver with 32,000 miles for sale in Bloomington, Indiana. After texting and talking to the owner, I decided to purchase it. I flew out to Indianapolis, rented a car, drove to Bloomington, met the owner, took a test drive, and completed the deal. So, 708 miles later, after driving it home, it now resides in my garage! Here it is just after I gave it its first wash job. By the way, I had the ugly pin-stripe removed when I had PPF applied.

I bought my 2006 S2k with 38k miles in 2016. I drove from WV to Omaha Nebraska to get it. About 1000 miles.
Just recently my girlfriend and I drove about 350 miles to West Chester PA to buy her 2006 Element. Why so far for a fairly common car? She had to have a manual AWD and that eliminates about 90 percent of them.
