Default The hummingbird thread

I found these pictures from July of this year and thought I'd share them for those who miss the little rascals this time of year.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays all.

There are three animals I see a lot at the tops of mountains, but which might be surprising for non-climbers: flying ants, ladybugs, and hummingbirds. Really.

Those are Black chin Hummingbirds, they are very common in the South East.
We have a feeder in front of our kitchen window, i have seen as many as 15 at one time.

I have a link to a good photo thread about the birth of hummingbirds. I'll go look for it.

Here it is. I don't remember where it came from but it's good.

Excellent pictures. Very rare to be able to get that close to one of their nest

Something seems to be wrong with that second picture. If it weren't for the fact that I know that hummingbirds have no feet, I'd swear that that little rascal was perched on that feeder.

How many times can someone use the word that in a paragraph?

That's that.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Hummingbirds do have feet, and they can and do perch.

They usually can't do much else with their feet, though. Walking or running is pretty much out of the question.

They're cool birds and definitely have feet and can perch... here's a couple of pics from last summer.
