To liven things up around here. A study has found that men are far more willing to forgive their female partners for having an affair with another woman than they are for an affair with a man. It didn't seem to work that way for women forgiving their male partners for guy-on-guy action, though. Discuss?

 

What books have you been reading lately?

I can't say that I've thought about it much. Although, I do find it interesting that a sexual relationship between two women seems to be more socially acceptable than between two males. I think you're right in that it seems to be a common male fantasy. It's not one of mine, though. think it's fantastical enough to find a woman who is willing to have sex with me. No need to dress it up any more than that.

 

^ I took out the part about the #1 male fantasy, but I see you jumped on it before my edit. It is true, but I didn't want to interject my opinions into this very important intellectual discussion.

 

We have one or two lesbian couples in our group of friends, and they seem to be pi$$ed that some men find fem-fem sex to be a turn on. I would think that they would be happy at the appreciation of their proclivities.

I'm not sure what I think about this. Can't say I ever gave this one much thought.

Your opinion is supported by my independent research. I've conducted this informal survey in my classes quite a few times. I'll ask the class how many of them would watch a video of woman-on-woman sex and the hand of almost every male in the room is raised. Then I'll ask how many would watch a similar video of man-on-man sex, and almost every male in the room suddenly finds the classroom floor to be the most fascinating thing he has ever seen.

Most of the woman in my classes generally haven't expressed an interest in either video. But they usually find the squirming of their male classmates to be entertaining.

If Brokeback Mountain had been about cowgirls instead of cowboys, I think the box office receipts would have been exponentially higher.
