I should have lost five pounds yesterday, but I did not. I tried an H.I.T.T. class at the Y. High Intensity Interval Training.

I thought my heart would beat out of my chest a few times, I thought I might need a hit of my asthma inhaler,I had sweat pouring off of my head, but I didn't feel like I was about to die. That's a good thing.

The class is specific exercises/motions for 3 reps, then 7 reps twice, then 15, sometimes using a small step. In addition to that there were planks, and some pushups (which I'm not very good at, even doing them like a girl) and some boxing moves too. I did not get all of the reps in and modified some of the moves to my own fitness level, but I completed the class. The instructor was really good. Quite a work out! I'm a bit sore this AM.

30 years ago my wife and I used 'Fit for Life' to lose some weight and it worked, but our children didn't like it and we finally caved. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fit_for_Life
About five months ago we started using the diet recommended in 'Forks over Knives' and I have lost about 13 pounds. http://www.forksoverknives.com/
No changes in exercise, just diet. Books and CDs available besides the website, have also noticed improvements in the way I feel.

OK I got to 237 before the shoulder acted up.
The shoulder is finally under control and I sleeping ok.
Bad news is the lack of exercise over 3 months cost me 13 pounds and I'm back to 250.
pants getting tight again and all of that crap.
So yesterday we starting walking again with a short 1.5 mile walk followed today by a 2.5 mile walk with the dog.
Time to get the activity level up.
I didn't walk a million steps to be a fat boy.

You are not going to lose 5# doing a one day exercise. Do that exercise regularly and watch your diet and you will lose weight. Don't over do it. Good start, good luck.

I know that Ray. I was just joking as the class was more exertion than I was used to. I'm at the Y 4-5 days/week for an hour most days 1 1/2 hours on one of the days. I'm trying to switch up the type of exercise I am doing. I try to move around as much as I can but I'm still chained to a desk all day. I'm maintaining my weight. I may stop obsessing about those few pounds I'd like to lose. I do have osteoporosis and a few extra pounds isn't a bad thing as it lowers the score for my risk of bone fracture. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....

Sounds like a good routine. My wife has Osteoporosis too. She recently suffered a small bone fracture on the top of her foot just from walking.

If it makes you feel any better, I have a Big permanent yellow sticky type sign on my Mac screen that reads "Lose the gut - Diet!" Last I checked I was up 6 pounds from my low point..... but I have not checked in three weeks. And that's because my pants are telling me what I don't want to see whats on the scale. Certain times of the year I can get into this diet thing and other times forget it.

Finally getting back with the program.
Walked the dog in the park yesterday for two+ miles.
Got up this morning and walked the loop with the dog for 3.7 miles with lots of elevation change 347 ft.

How are y'all planning to control your calorie intake on T-Day? Always difficult. I'm having a scaled down dinner. Stuffing with the quail, but no mashed potatoes or pie. I'm making an apple/cranberry crisp for dessert, which has an oatmeal topping. We have been pretty good about cutting out carbs/sugars and substituting lower/no sugar items.

your using a quail for stuffing? Is that turducken light?
I'll stick with the standard bread.

I know it's an election year and all but the very idea of the Road to 270 in this thread is downright scary. need to find an offramp.
