Like Grannyrod I have relatives in San Antonio too.

I checked out the website of the local san antonio tv station and while I was looking at it I saw they're having a Cajun festival this weekend that is turning into one of those cane parties.

Here's the addy. Check out the jambalaya recipe. mmmmmm It partway down the page.

san antonio cane party

Praying for your daughter's safety as she does her mission of mercy, mn as well as everyone else affected by this one. Please keep us posted. My people in San Antonio say the city's population has doubled with Houston coming in and the nearest hotel room is in El Paso.
Coming out of Houston they have opened the southbound lanes for northbound traffic to Buffalo. Thats a distance of almost 130 miles.
Once you get out of Houston the traffic is better. A friend of my daughters made it from Willis (not to far north of Houston) to Dallas in about 6 hours. She did cross over from I45 to I35. That is probably why SAT is getting so many visitors. There are a good number of local roads that will take you from 45 to 35.
It looks like one of the logistical nightmares they are having is that the gas stations along the interstate are running out of gas to sell.

We're talking serious nightmares all around. San Antonio was already stretched.
I'm worried that with the projected track, San Antonio and Dallas may not be far enough out of the way. I guess it depends on what she's packing when she makes landfall but she's scheduled to track right over Dallas, isn't she? I know it's a big state but strange things have been happening lately. Haven't seen any reports today.

Thanks Perk, let's hope Rita sees it and decides to follow it. Looks like San Antonio and Dallas are ALMOST out of the cone and on the good side with this track. We live in hope.

Hey, Mrs. P -- I think in some other old thread you were asking about why you should keep your diesel car around (or was that someone else?) -- I can give you a reason now. Looks like diesel is more readily available at gas stations around here these days than gasoline...

^ I think I commented on how expensive diesel gas was all those years I had my MB 240D. But I sold it when I bought my S. Fortunately, I'm not driving much, because gas is getting ready to go up, up, up again.
