Do y'all remember when the guy running the store was the guy who owned the store? He wanted your business. If you had a complant or problem, you just took it up with him on a one to one and got it resolved. I liked that. In addition, you could negotiate the price or service with him and both would part friends. I know a lot of the "good old days" were not always so good but I think our age group grew up with some damn fine memories.

Poor customer service - oh, don't get me going on that one. Short story.

Last month we stayed at major hotel for 5 nights with a bill over $500. During the stay my wife had a pair of new jean's and a top taken from our room! No doubt, someone in house cleaning helped themselves since no one other then us was ever in the room. We did not make a big deal of it at the time (my mistake). Since returning home I called, left my story, and asked for the motel manager to call me. No response. So I repeated the process. Still no response - even after I said I didn't care about $ but wanted an appology. Mad, I called corporate and filed a complaint. They said someone would get back with me within 7 days. No response after a week. Ramada sucks.

If you want to see bad customer service look at this thread.

But customer service at auto dealers was always awful.

I miss the good ol' days when pet peeves could be resolved simply by slipping up on a roof with a rifle. :sigh:

Harley Davidsons that are so loud that they disrupt and disturb everyone around.

Radios that are so loud that they disrupt and disturb everyone around.

Honda Civics with mufflers that are so loud that they disrupt and disturb everyone around.

People that are so loud that they disrupt and disturb everyone around.

1. Telephone companies that put you in the call queue, but a recorded message butts in every 30 seconds saying "your call is important to us". It's SO important they obviously want you to stay on-line as long as possible. I always imagine a pile of guys at the other end of the line, taking bets on how long you will stay on hold, sniggering and laughing the whole time.

2. Car park gnomes, running around car arks with little hammers putting small dents in every car. My last car had never been in a single accident, but EVERY panel was dented, scratched, holed, even the roof: yep, someone used the car to place a parcel while they got in their SUV.

3. Passing lanes on a long stretch of windy road: the slow driver suddenly doubles speed so no one can pass, then brakes at the end

4. Old people who ask for senior discounts

5. Young people who won't give me a senior discount

NB: after working on a dairy farm for a few months, I found that cow crap has a range of smells. Some smells sweet, some musty, some just plain horrible. The dog with its superior sense of smell can detect the subtle differences between crap from different dogs, and rolls only in the good stuff. Answer: find which dog leaves the crap in the park that your dog is rolling in, and shoot the owner.

People who carry on extended and LOUD cell phone conversations in restaurants, grocery stores, ANY PUBLIC PLACE. I do not want to hear your personal phone conversations!!! I'm sick and tired of those stinking musical ringtones and the stupid conversations that ensue. Most of the time some loudmouth is simply chitchatting about NOTHING and polluting my air space.

Another of my pet peeves as well. Why do people think they have to be available 24/7?

Phones have voice mail. Turn the phone off and check messages periodically.

You can't walk through the grocery store without seeing someone carrying on a conversation the whole time they are going through the aisles. Can it really be THAT important? I don't think so.

I have recently noticed signs in the vet's office as well as the post office, to TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE as a courtesy to others. It's about time.

Oh, one more. The person on the cell phone who is too rude to hang up or tell the party they are speaking to to HOLD ON, while they complete a business transaction. Talking on the phone the whole time.

I don't care if you are ordering fast food, picking up your dry cleaning, or in line at a drive through at the bank. HANG UP the phone and give the person who is waiting on you some courtesy!!!!!

Inappropriate dress for the occasion. Attend any out-door event and there seems to be an epidemic of flesh among those who, well, really have NO business showing off what they have. If you got it, of course, flaunt it. If you don't, cover up please.

I recently had the sad experience of sitting in my companies marketing booth at a local county fair. Watching the parade of female flesh was an eye opener. Apparently, the trend is to wear ultra low-rise jeans with a high rise shirt - And if you were 14 year old teeny bopper that might be ok - but I witnessed 50 year old, gray headed, tattooed fat ladies "strutting their stuff". I assumed that it was becaus I live in the Land-O-Rednecks - apparently not, it's everywhere.
