Indy 500 & F1 at Monaco
This is always a great motor racing weekend.
Indy cars may not get all the attention and respect they used to from the media as a whole but this should be a great race this year. Reportedly passing won't be as easy but they are turning some really fast laps (220+) with any number of potential winners. It still boggles my mind they can drive that fast on that old track. I was there when Sneva broke 200 mph in qualifying and the stands went nuts! I watched the practice this morning. After practice there was an Indy Lights race with one hell-of-one-car-crash into the end of the pit entry wall. Amazingly the early report is just a broken wrist; I thought he may have meet his maker.
I think Saturday's qualifying for F1 will be the real deal as passing in the actual race is pretty much not-goingl-to-happen. The Mercedes team is hoping be on top for the entire season; so far they have won the first 5. I hope Ferrari can put a good car under Alonso. Hard to imagine Vette struggling so much.

To me this is like Super Bowl Sunday is to most Americans.

I agree. They lost a lot a media attention after the split between CART and the IRL. I for one miss the CART days.

Yeah, but Hamilton was on a .2 faster pace than Rosberg for the pole on the last lap when time ran out, but Rosberg triggered a yellow and that apparently determined the final order. Hamilton didn't seem to be very happy on the podium.

Hamilton got screwed. After Rosberg had the lead in Q3 he then proceeded to lift off enough to cool his tires (not normally done in the closing minutes), and then in turn he missed a corner which caused a yellow so it ensured that Hamilton could not complete his lap to surpass him as time then ran out. It immediately raised the question - on purpose? Only he knows.
