Somebody better check their math:

$85 billion divided by 200 million equals $425, not $425,000.

Another one of those stupid e-mails that gets passed on without anyone checking.
Someone needs to become a little more "elite" before sending out emails.

Wait, were dealing with the government, so the difference is just a rounding error.

I got this email twice--both times from my parents. I don't know how many times I've referred them to snopes.

It seems like a lot of Americans have tightened their belts this year and cut back, whether it be from the economy or from gas prices. I've never in my life seen the government do the same...

I seriously do have problem with the Wall Street moguls who foul up and expect someone else to pick up the tab. I don't want hand outs from the government but I don't want the government reaching into my pocket too much either.

The fat cats on Wall Street are a symptom of the problem, but not the problem themselves. They are, however, a great diversion for our political elite. Pointing fingers at Wall Street takes the heat off the stupid laws created and recreated by Congress.

Seriously, what is so strange about freezing the government's budget? It's grown explosively in the past few years--can't they cope? Is it such a stretch of the imagination?

For example, we've all seen that throwing money at our education system does just about nothing, so why keep it up? Isn't that the definition of insanity?

One of my fellow teachers sent this out to the entire staff today. I hated to tell him to check his math, but I did of course. Dang English department.

Not, apparently, in the UK!

In the States a Billion is a thousand million.
In the UK, apparently, a Billion is a million million.

That's it for today's math lesson.
