Interesting scenario
A friend posed an interesting scenario to me. Suppose you were pulling into the driveway and your house/condo/apartment was on fire. You had time to make one trip in to retreive whatever you could carry out to safety. Assume the house was empty, no family or pets were inside.
What would you grab?
For me, it would be a small safe that has all of the critical papers (birth cert, will, car titles, etc) under one arm, the pc (several thousand jpeg pics) under the other and my iPod in my teeth.
(apoligies if this has been asked before but I did a search and didn't see anything similar)

Where do you live again Lainey?

I'd grab my laptop assuming it wasn't already in the car with me because I am paranoid
My entire life AND business reside their.
Photo albums would be next, although with my laptop I could replace MANY of the photos from the last few years. iPod would be in the car already

Since we live in an area suseptible to fires we have a list of things to take, depending on the time limits: a few minutes, 30 minutes or a few hours. Can't remember what's on them though, except our computer and box of papers.

I studied fire safety while an undergrad.
I've seen how fast a fire can move. once your out, stay out.
the ONLY thing I would go back in for would be my kids.
I'd just kick open the door for the dog.
if it is that vital you should probably have a copy stored off-site somewhere else.
