Default Is it just me... or....

Seems like not a day or week goes by that there isn't an automobile recall for some reason...

Just saw that BMW is recalling 176,000 cars due to brake issues.....

Seems like it is happening to all manufacturers....

And the recalls are for large numbers of cars also!

I think the manufacturers are really concerned after some of the fines and more importantly bad PR for stonewalling.

Not to mention the potential for lawsuits.

My BMW is part of this recall. I'm disappointed.

There ARE a lot more recalls lately. I totally agree with Rob. There have been some horrendously gigantic payouts for accident-related defects, so I'm sure they'd like to avoid not only the negative publicity but the lawsuits as well.

Most people on the Vintage forum are probably old enough to remember the Ford Pinto fiasco.

And now, Jeep says just put a bigger trailer hitch on and you will have no problems????

I once got a recall because one of the stickers on my car didn't conform to whatever statute required it in the first place. I didn't hurry back for that one.

The latest one is for an airbag issue... from September, but people are being notified now.

In addition to the liability I think the higher tech the cars get the more prone they are to failure / problems.
