As of now, the plan is to head to the locksmith's tomorrow, tell him what's going on. Get his 02. Rick will show him the key, find out if that type of key is something in his realm. Rick has a garage of choice he will ask to remove the necessary parts if the locksmith can do his thing.

If not, some new parts may be in order. The same garage could likely handle the job. They aren't cheap parts, but I don't want a quick fix, only to get in a situation where either key won't go in lock, or wheel won't unlock.

So Lainey, after three pages of posts, and several ideas, you haven’t tried any of them? Or did you and they failed to make a difference?

Rick had tried a little WD40. No difference.

Stopped by to see our friendly lock smith today. Rick showed him the key for the Honda as he wasn't sure the locksmith would deal with laser cut keys. He said if we get the lock removed, he can deal with the tumblers in it.

Stopped at our local favorite garage and made an appointment for them to remove the lock/ignition. If repair doesn't work, we know replacement parts are not cheap. Has to be repaired though.

Meanwhile, Rick did pick up some graphite as, at this point, it can't hurt.

Appointment scheduled for mid-March when we are away visiting family in NY, or sooner if the key won't go into the ignition at all.
