Default Kobe Trial

The criminal case was dismissed because the 'victim' said she could not go on with the case and did not want to testify. Without her, there is no case.

BUT........ the civil case is still scheduled. Won't she testify there?

Was this all about the money to start, or, after all of the leaks and innuendos did the 'victim' decide that it wasn't worth the criminal trial, but she would at least walk away with something?

It seems to me that you have an opinion as to validity of the charges against Bryant. Me, I don't know but I do know one thing...the court should be thoroghly investigated and censured. There was no excuse for the number of "leaks" and outright incompetence from the court.

The Court seems to have some major problems.

He's a piece of crap for cheating on his wife and family. She's no better for fooling around with someone's husband and father. If she was assaulted, then that was clearly wrong and it's a shame he won't be punished. However, I'm inclined to believe that the encounter was consensual (at least initially?), but they're the only ones who really know.

I was not there and have not followed it closely.

The case was dropped because the victim did not want to testify any longer in the criminal case. But won't she have to in the civil case?

I just find it curious. I also offer a reason as to why it has happened.

I have no idea if Kobe is guilty or not. Not sure why you came to your conclusion that I had an opinion.

^^ I would guess he thought you had an opinion since victim was in quotes...

I forgot to say that I'm with PokS2k...I don't know what the truth is or what she's doing. I know the burden of proof is much lower in a civil case...so that may be part of why she's going the civil route.

Oh, I used quotes since it was not proven if there was a 'victim'. And with the case being withdrawn makes it less likely that the truth will come out.

My guess is that there will be an out of court settlement and there will never be a civil trial either.

NBA players have a bevy of groupies throwing themselves at them. It's SOP.

Shame on Kobe for straying on his wife.

My personal feeling is that it was for the a. attention and b. money

I will be surprised if we ever see this in civil court. I think that her not testifying is just part of an overall settlement. Its all about the $'s.

Of this I am not certain, but with the apology that was issued I think you can rest assured of 2 things.

A. There will be no civil trial
B. She has enough money to retire

I don't know if it was consensual at the onset, but if she said no at any time, then the answer is no. I think that many athletes have a tendancy to believe that the world belongs to them, ESPECIALLY Kobe Bryant. He grew up in the Phila. area (we heard all the stories) and he is quite a distasteful person, IMHO.

I've been turned off by the NBA for a while now.
