Default Long Drives in the S

Cindy and I are thinking of taking Hwy 50 from coast to coast this Spring, that's a little over 3,000 miles one way. The last long drive we took was 7000+ miles(11 western states) in 21 days back in '13. That trip was so much fun because we stayed off the Hwy system, this one is all on one Hwy for 3000+ miles.
Anyone else do crazy drives like this in their S?

i drove my s across country within 2 months of owning it. went from northern va to san diego. i was in a hurry, so i only slept 4 hours per night and kept it moving the rest of the time. i was happy to get out of that driver's seat when i arrived.

Several of us have made long drives in the S as you described:

Patty (Kyras) at least 3 times from SoCal to the East Coast and return
Matt (Matt_In_Va) to South Dakota and Oregon and return for meets
Yours truly to Denver from Delaware in my S, and to Vegas in my NSX and return
Jim (S1997) several trips from Texas to both coasts and return
I'm sure there are others

These cars were made to drive!

Western NY to Yellowstone, up to Glacier National Park and back in 2010. I think it was about 6000 miles round trip in two weeks.

Never took long trips when I owned my 2 S2000's, kills my back. We drive to Naples, Fla. every year in the BMW X3 much more comfortable. My other choice is our Jeep Wrangler which would be torture.

I assume you'lll start off driving east ? My wife and I participated in the Enchantment 2010 drive that took us 5500 miles in 3 weeks from Northern VA to NM, AZ, Co and back. A good time was had by all.

I’m envious of long distance drivers. After seven hours of driving in a single day or more than three days confined in a car my back gives out. I need at least one hour of daily exercise to assure my mobility and lack of suffering.

My back is fine in the S, its my legs that give me trouble. After 5 hours(one tank of gas) in the S when I go to get out of the S I look like I'm 90 not 60. It takes a little bit of walking to get the kinks out of my legs. I'm not tall at 5' 11" but I do wish the leg well in the S was bigger. In our Wrangler('13 Sahara with heated seat and a lot more) we can go all day and jump out and take a hike with no kinks in the legs or back. Now if the Jeep handled anything like the S we would drive it more, but its like a whale out on the road.

Here are the pic's we took up on Mt. Evans, this was day 6 of 21. We had some great weather to go and see Mt. Evans. We hiked up to the top and the back side of the Mt. has a pretty good drop off, I didn't get to close to the edge. The air at 14k is a little thin and it does make it hard to catch your breath when you're used to sea level.

Some great pic’s of your Mt. Evans and Rocky Mountain drives. See that you were able to meet some of Colorado’s people-friendly ewes, too.
