Look at what happened Saturday morning.

That's sad news, Rob.
Once, right after I bought my car, I forgot to set the handbrake after parking in my gently sloping driveway to check the oil, and before I could catch the car it backed into a small tree and dented the bumper. I had it fixed for about $600, but I wish now that I had replaced the whole bumper. It would not have cost much more. Have you thought of perhaps replacing it with an 04/05 bumper? It will fit -- costs the same -- and the new bumper has a much nicer contour on the sides than the 00/03, IMO. I guess that would make your car a hybrid, tho.

Rob, Welcome! I felt the same way, when something similar happened to me.
The perps All State insurance paid for a new bumper, paint and the rental car. The four days, yes, four days to get

Just saw this
Sorry, Rob.
Mine's in the shop right now following a similar mishap. I decided to make a positive out of a negative, so I'm having them replace my '03 bumper with an '04-'05 style. (Since yours is punctured, insist on having it replaced too. I chose the '04 style since it matches my Supersprint exhaust better.)
Stuff happens... cars are fixed much more easily than people.

Thank you everyone. You're all absolutely right. Neither Adam or I got hurt, and the bumper can be fixed.
Today I took the car in for an extimate. I went to two independent shops. One shop gave me an estimate for replacing the bumper and a second estimate for sanding and spraying the existing bumper. The quotes were $20 apart. Needless to say, I have no confidence in this shop as I don't believe the existing bumper can be fixed. I agree with Drew.
The other shop, which by the way was highly recommended, told me that the only way they'd take the job is if I replace the bumper. If I insist upon keeping the original bumper they won't take the job because they won't do any work that they can't guarantee. Their quote was $895, which remarkably was only $25 more than the other shop. I am having it fixed here.
Remarkably, they will need to have the car for 2 to 3 days, and the first appointment that they have available is during the week of July 11th. I guess the autobody shops are busy.

This stinks Rob You seemed so placid at the park and ride I had no idea! :confused; I would have commiserated with you!
At first I was upset, but what could I do? I guess I was able to put everything in perspective, and it didn't hurt to have 40 other S2000s for Del Val and Metro NYC around. Great group of people.
I think I was a little reserved, both on the drive and at the picnic, but again, Adam and I were able to enjoy the day.
Next year I'm going straight to the park and ride without looking for McDonalds.
