NOAA would be a dream job for me (not qualified in the least bit!) can I take her place? I am infatuated with weather to the point that I jsut bought a wireless weather station for the house
Sorry, but I only do that sort of thing for my female students. Call it reverse sexism if you will, but I feel that Biology, as most areas of science, has been dominated by us old white guys for far too long. It's time for some new blood and new POVs.

Honey, you can find the strange if you just walk outside your house!!! I really have seen some realllllllly strange at a local bar.
That's nothing. Have you ever looked inside a laundromat? There are some R-E-A-L-L-Y scary critters in those places.

These photos are actually from a joint Australia/NZ research cruise. I was just looking at the website yesterday.

A NOAA site is just down the hwy from us in San Diego. One of my friends made a fiberglass "gathering arm" for a NOAA sub--lots of money and even more r&d. The arm was made to take soil samples by sunken ships, mainly to see the effect on oil/fuel seepage over the years.

Long story short, he got to go down in the bathysphere for the test, and the arm didn't work. Oh well, he got a fun ride.

Beats me. I've read just about everything he's ever written. I'm currently reading his latest, "The Ancestor's Tale: A Pilgimage to the Dawn of Evolution". It's an excellent book that even lay people should enjoy if they like natural history.

You can run, but you can't hide.
