Default Mardi Gras pics (as promised)

A buddy and I went to New Orleans on Mardi Gras day. We probably spent all of 2 minutes on Bourbon. We walked down Royal a mile or two to meet up with friends who have an apartment in the quarter. On the way we passed the Pete Fountain Memorial Walking Parade. This consists of maybe a hundred or so members of the Half Fast Walking Club, all dressed in matching snappy New Orleans jazz musician period costume. Then we found ourselves walking upstream against the tide of the St. Anne's Walking Parade, a community organized event where a few thousand folks walk in costumes of their own creation. No theme. Just fun. Here are some pics, mostly taken along the parade route.

Remember these two from Mad Magazine?

A policy change: NOPD no longer enforces minor marijuana offenses. This may be stretching things a bit...

Still tilting...

Cosplay like its 1999.

Lots of cool hats.

Had to pop in here for a beer refill and some jazz.

Saw this in the Spotted Cat bathroom over the urinal while getting rid of some previously consumed beer.

The view from our friends' apartment. Looking west toward St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square.

Scalemail made from Mardi Gras doubloons. These guys have been to a lot of parades.

Still standing...in fact still walking back to the Canal Street Ferry,

Very, very, cool, Mike! One question, though, where are the body painted folks?

Mike, thanks. NO is on my bucket list. Which is getting short; cause I an't living forever. I can't make it this year; so, (honestly) what would be the best dates next year to enjoy it? (it's a test)

Good thing these are daytime photo's, hence the "G" rating. At nighttime it quickly turns more adult in nature.

Thank you for sharing your photos. Wow. I loved Spy vs. Spy in Mad magazine. I'm curious how the weather was. Is the last photo one of you?
