Default Memorial Day

Memorial day. A time to remember and thank those who lost their lives keeping us safe, also a time thank those who are serving today, and remember those we have lost.

This AM while out for a walk, I came across a memorial service on a small local bridge.

I stopped where I was as they were doing a 21 gun salute. It reminded me of the veterans who came to speak when my father died and it brought tears to my eyes.

My Dad was so proud of his service.

I am a flag waving, proud to be an American, veteran.
I salute all those who serve and who have served.

Each time I see a vet of WW11, I go up to him and shake his hand and thank him for his sacrifice.

We should all pause and contemplate what our service Men and Women have done for us. Many thanks to the tens of thousands who have served this country.

As they do today as well.

I believe that our service men and women represent the philosophy that is in my signature. They are defending our way of life from foe that are fighting because they hate what is in front of them, not because they love what is behind them. That seems to be the only explanation for actions such as beheading a thirteen year old girl for not dressing "properly" and then turning her head into a IED. Then detonating it when a shop keeper in Baghdad went to retrieve it. What kind of people are these?

As a Vietnam era Veteran, I am so happy that attitudes have changed toward our military.

My father died,in this war;he was 27 years old,I was 2 years old;never got to know him.
My father was a Hero;he died in Normandie.
He was a Lieutenant,in the 22* Regiment of the Fusilliers of Mont Royal...
He received,"post mortem, the "Medaille de la Bravoure"wich,I still have, but,It (sadly..) takes things like this to make me think, and remember, about this...
One day,I would like to go,to Normandie,to pray on his toumb...

Emil,

I salute him and all the others that fought and served in WWII. Including my Father and Father-in-Law (both Navy). Fortunately for us, we got to know our Fathers. I am truly sorry that you never got to know yours.

I would ask all of you who are praying people to please think of my son and my brother who are serving right now and are both in serious jeopardy. I am away from home today and in this place I am going to a Memorial Day service that will honor all the veterans of this community. I feel privileged and blessed that I will be in the presence of many WWII veterans and many veterans of other wars. May they all be blessed.
