My fuel guage on my Civic Coupe was pinned to E. Even though I knew there was gas in the tank, I went to the gas station and filled up. Still on 'E'. Looked to see if I could find the fuse for it, but no luck (must be part of a groupl but everything else worked).

Finally took the car to Honda. After they tested the guage cluster, etc... they called and said they had to check the punp and guage. They thought it would be about 1 1/2 hrs. labor plus parts.

The phone rang about 30 minutes later and they had an answer. When they pulled the rear seat they found a mouse nest and chewed wires.

I am hoping the mouse had already left and isn't hiding in the car.

Any sugg. on how to keep mice out of the car? The car is in the driveway and is driven about every other day.

Weird that they moved into a vehicle that is used daily.

I'm allergic to them and my dog would not like it either.

The car can sit there sometimes for a few days (3 or 4).

I think I'm going to set traps and put one in the trunk and one on the rear seat floor.

and they can go anywhere the mouse can.

Seriously the mouse (mice) is probably still there, set a sticky trap on the floorboard, tape it down so he can't flip it and bait it with a little peanut butter.

If he doesn't show in a day or so, you're clear.

Yes, my guess he is still in the car somewhere. When the service tech was pulling the seat he probably hid somewhere else.

I have spring traps that I use when I winterize the 'S' and will set a couple of them on the floor and trunk.

Edit:

Just realized that the spring trap might trip while I drive. While I don't like the sticky trap, it is probably the best for this situation.

Jim, I second the peanut butter suggestion as bait. We get those disgusting vermin in my office and peanut butter works every time.

 

If you set a trap check it often, otherwise you'll end up with a wonderful
smell in your car.

 

I had mice in the garage about a year ago. The spring traps did nothing (they managed to eat all the peanut butter clean from the traps too). But the sticky traps did the trick. They are messy and cruel, and the rotted mice bodies are still somewhere in my garage because I did not secure the sticky traps -- I know now, but it was the first time I used them.
