Unfortunately, I put some spring traps in the garage a couple of years ago: they disappeared. I'm afraid that they snapped on a chipmunk or something large and were dragged away. I never found the traps, and have stopped using that kind.

I've had good luck with those devices that emit a high pitched sound that is only sensitive to animals that will keep them away from the area you are trying to protect. You can get them at most hardware stores.
