By any chance does anyone have a phone number to reach a "live" person?

I purchased their 365 app and have spent 5 or 6 hours trying to resolve an issue.

Have you tried Live Chat? I have found those work pretty well for me. And if that person can't help you, they will give you a number.

If you need to contact a live person in Microsoft customer service you need to dial 1-877-696-7786 or 1-800-642-7676 (Live customer service representatives are available from 5am to 9pm Monday-Friday, from 6am to 3pm Saturday-Sunday closed.). This number is available 24 hours a day. To speak with a live agent, you need to press 3 at the first prompt, then say “other” or press 6 at the second prompt and say “other” or press 6 at the third. After that, you need to stay on the line and the automated phone system will connect you to a live customer service agent from Microsoft (typical waiting time is about 5-10 minutes).

I called both numbers multiple times over the past few days. In every case they refer you to or route you to the so-called-online chat except there is nobody to chat online with, just "canned scripts" with "canned answers". The rep at Apple said he didn't think they had any live people to handle issues.

Ken, I put your process in my notes. I think I may have finally got through by clicking feedback feature where you tell them what you don't like about the app because suddenly tonight the error message that didn't allow me to use Excel is gone. Prior I had tried everything including deleting the app and downloading again, etc. . . .

Update: Ken the process you outlined no longer works. Entering 3s and 6s only gets you a quick goodby from MS. Impossible to talk to a live person. Never the less I did get the answer and not the one I wanted. Due to the age of the latest Apple software I can load on my old iMac machine it appears I am prevented from loading any word processing app!

I purchased MS Office in 2011 and it will not activate it. Trying online it says I don't have an internet connection. BS. I can get anything else. They also offers the option to activate it by phone. I tried. After providing 81 numbers I was told, sorry.

I purchased MS 365 for my new iMac. It can be loaded on four other devices but not to my old machine. I downloaded the software and it said sorry . . . need macSO from 2019 or newer. Of course mine is locked in 2018. I even tried to load free Pages and it said the same thing, need 2019 or new.

Does anyone know of any word processing program that might work on an out of date system? I asked on Macworld but no answers as yet.

My old machine is serving the primary goal as a reference source in my art room.

Not sure about the MacOS, but this is what I use on my PC. I love it and the cost is nice!

Thanks Gene. Awe, so close. My software is 10.13.6.

Apple macOS (Mac OS X)

The software and hardware prerequisites for installing on a Apple macOS computer are as follows:
  • macOS 10.14 or newer

Another "free" software package that I used previously is Open Office. It appears to support your macOS. https://www.openoffice.org/porting/mac/
