Myrtle Beach Fall Meet
So Darlene (AKA Valentine) and I have been kicking around the idea of a fall meet here in the Myrtle Beach area. Right now we are gauging interest...solid interest, not "jeez it would be nice, we'll let you know in August".
. I can host something Saturday at the amenities center in my developement. We would have access to the building which has a screened picnic area, kitchen, bahtrooms, etc. as well as two large pools, tennis courts, and a dock to throw in a line to fish in the lake. Most of the meet would be focused around social activities vs. a drive because, A) we have no twisty roads here at the coast and B) you'll be tired from the drive here Friday. We can organize a drive down Ocean Blvd., stop at the downtown oceanfront boardwalk ( http://www.visitmyrtlebeach.com/boardwalk/ ) for a group pic and casual stroll/coffee, then proceed to Broadway at the Beach ( http://www.broadwayatthebeach.com/ ) for shopping/sightseeing, and/or a round of highly competitive miniature golf.
. There are many other things to see and do and I'm sure this would evolve over time. September would probably be the best time as the busiest part of the tourist season will be over, resort rates decline, the temps are still in the 80's and the ocean water is still very warm. Post away...

We would be very interested but since it is an eight hour drive for us, we can't commit right now. We don't have any vacations plans this year so a Myrtle Beach road trip is a welcomed thought!
Thanks for the offer and I do remember from a past Ohio trip that you flip a great burger!
You know I'm in. I'd be happy to have you guys cruise from the Boulevard down this way if you'd like. I may be able to arrange a group visit to Brookgreen Gardens for those of you who may be interested in a tour of the gardens. Thanks, OR. You're a prince. If you are interested in the garden tour, please post so I'll have an idea of how many tickets would be needed. I'm sure I can get 8, but any more than that would involve a cost factor.
This sounds wonderful, and there are many reasons for us to head south. Family members have relocated and you all are there. However, we have a long weekend planned in June and a week in August, that pretty much kills the vacation time.
Maybe next year.
Maybe next year.

I hope it is latter in September when it is NOT SO HOT. And especially that it does NOT conflict with the Inaugural "Streets of Baltimore" Indy car race in early September. If they actually have this race I would like to go because it may very well only happen once, like the AMLS race at RFK Stadium in DC a few years ago that was suppose to be a ten year deal.
Somebody help me out. When I first posted this topic I forgot to check the box that says, "notify me via email when people post to this thread" (or whatever it says). Is there a way to go back and set that option on?
