I have a smart TV (big @ss Sony). Unfortunately, a dumb @ss owner. Haven't even hooked it to the Net, yet. Everything goes through the box.

For one thing, Ray, I'm not much of a movie person, but my wife is, so we subscribed. At first, she binge watched, but then the newness wore off, and the selections that appealed to her declined, much like Dave said. When it came time to renew, the decision was hers not to, and she got no argument from me!

Just caught up to this thread. I use Roku's so I don't need a smart TV though one or two of them are (yeas we have a lot of TVs now spread across two houses.

Netflix has changed their business model a good bit, opting for less of the more current movies and moving to original programming (much of it is good). The "new more current movie channel" is Hulu which also does ABC, NBC, and Fox on demand as well as a number of the cable channels "on demand", and they have been doing original programming as well "Shut Eye" being a new and so far quite good series. Amazon, is doing as good of a job with video as they are with everything else that they do i.e. Grand Tour.

Have fun with you Netflix.

btw, everyone should be encouraged to watch The Big Short, a great movie.

We planned to watch the movie Harry and Snowman last night on the iMac since we don't have a smart TV and that was the only access to it. First off, it said I had to do a Flash update. Then it kept trying to tell me I need to get MegaBACKUP. Finally I just the heck with and ordered the DVD from Amazon for $20! Gene that was strike 3.

On a semi-related topic, the last few episodes of The Grand Tour have been pretty good. Too bad you still have the queasies about watching them. Getting ready to watch Episode 8, which is Part 2 in the Namibia desert.
