Default Never hurts to ask!

I need to go buy a lotto ticket today!

Was stopped by an Indiana state trooper on the way to work, while I was on RT177/227 about 10 minutes from Richmond, IN. This is the “fun” road to take to work!

He was middle car of three cars heading the other direction, and he hit me with radar, and I didn’t have a chance to slow down….. saw him turn on his turn signal and do a U turn…. Knew he had me speeding.

Pulled me over, and said I was doing 69 in a 55.

I asked him to make my day, and be nice… to look at my record, that there are no tickets on it. He asked where I was heading, and I told him about my daily journey.

He went back to his cruiser, and about 5 minutes later (or seemed like 5 minutes), here he comes back with my drivers license and a piece of paper…..

Hands me my license, and then tells me.. he is giving me a WARNING!!!!

We talked for another 2-3 minutes about what I do for a living, and why I drive so far to work…..

Made my day!

Nice! Wish there had been a cop around on the +1's last infraction. But it was a speed camera in DC. Boo...

Richmond, IN? I live about 20-25 miles west of there. Haven't run afoul of the ISP in the S2K (yet) but the last two times in my MR2 (only one for speeding - and that by not much) there were no warnings. Instant ticket.

By all means, buy that lottery ticket.

Nice! I had a statie pull me over in R.I. and then tell me AFTER he gave me the speeding ticket that he noticed my record was clean and that if I go to court and tell the judge I have a clean record he will most likely dismiss the ticket. I REALLY felt like saying to the statie why don't you just let me off with a warning but I didn't maybe I should of but he had already written the ticket.

Glad you got lucky Mike. I doubt I'd ask. I might think the officer thought I was pushy, especially if I was more than a few mph over. If my record was clear, (it is today), I'd hope the officer would be kind and just give a warning, but at 14 mph over the limit, I don't think I'd be that lucky.

Rick had a clear record and got a ticket a 8 mph over the limit. It got tossed in court after a phone call, but he still had to waste the time showing up. I don't think the cop liked seeing a radar detector (not that it did us any good). We got rid of it after that.

When I saw the officer hit his brakes, I grabbed the radar detector off the windshield and hid it and the wires quickly.....

My radar detector has saved my butt many, many, many times. But..... between the instant on radars and laser... gonna get ya sooner or later!

I got lucky!

97-101 miles each way...... depending on which roads I take, and how fast I go.... 90-105 minutes.

Its not really as bad as it sounds....

Its a long story... ask me at the next Spring Fling we attend, and when you have 15 minutes!
