Default Never skip a funeral

One of my cousins died in the Buffalo area. The timing did not work out that I could attend the services.
Perhaps I should have gone.

You could still go and point out to the idiot that thought the big black car was cool looking that it would be hard to hide it.

Since I lost my job (and / or retired) back in 2011 I have been driving for several Limo companies and ofter drive for funerals, to support my S2K meet habit. This "pocket money" pays for my S2000 attendance at various meets, etc. But, I can not get over this report of a "low life" stealing a funeral "coach". The world has gone crazy, and it makes me happy that I do NOT have children that will have to deal with a world that is spinning out of control more and more.

I suppose that this could be a poll and a topic for the politics thread? Do you think that the world has just become "crazier" or is it because we just learn about it more due to social media and news broadcast? What do you think?

Matt Good question.

I don't think the world is getting any crazier than it's always been. I think we're the ones who feel left behind as has every other senior generation.

I don't think the world is any crazier than it has ever been. I just think the world communicates better today than ever before.
And Oddball news stands out.
Dog bites man is not a story, Man bites dog is.
Steal a car is not news but a hearse...

On a separate note. Most of the family isn't really that upset by all of it.

When in college a good buddy had a hearse as his daily driver. We had some great times in it.

My father used to use the line, "we're goin to hell in a handbasket".

The world is changing and if you don't keep up, it has a tendency to look not-so-good.

boltonblue, was that REALLY your cousin's funeral? At least they'll have something to laugh about years down the road. That's the kind of shit that would happen in MY family.

yep, my mother's brother's son. although I don't think I had seen him in 40 years.
actually probably 38 years since our grandmother's funeral.
Sometimes it amazing how quickly the time slips by.
In some regards it feels like yesterday but in another sense it feels like such a long time ago it's like a different life.

with the other's observations.

As Dylan sang: "Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone. For the times they are a-changin'.

One of my real world experiences is playing out over the last few years. To me a good example of how things change over time occurs when I visit with my now ninety-seven year old Mother. She REALLY LOVES a band that plays at the American Legion Post in Riverhead , NY, and around at some local bars. When ever I visit we sit right across from the band that plays music from the 50's,60's and 70's. She will sit there all night, even though it is loud and is always applauding them, etc. Regarding the change, the irony is that it is the same music that almost fifty years ago she was yelling at me to "turn that crap down".
