New Shingles Vaccine

Just got the first shot today. 2nd is scheduled for July 10th. Cost: Only 3 years of service, one of which was in a hostile environment! I cannot say enough good things about the treatment I have received at our local VA clinic! They are top-notch.
The nurse who administered it said she had heard no complaints about soreness. We shall see.

My former boss gets all his care from the VA. He has no complaints though he does have to go here and there. He opted out of a Medicare supplement which I would think could be risky and limit his choices if he becomes ill....My brother in law also sees docs at the VA, but has private medical insurance/ care available to him.

^I still use Medicare and a Medicare Supplement plan for the majority of my health care. I consider the VA a supplemental health care source. I get my hearing aids, maintenance prescriptions, and vaccinations through them.
BTW, my arm is still a little tender, but not any worse than from other vaccinations I have received.

I've never thought of using the VA for anything but if they want to charge me a gold mine for a couple shots I may have to look into it.

Got my second shot today. Just a little soreness. Even hurt less when administered this time. Will see what tomorrow brings.

Arm was not as sore today as with the last injection, however last night my body temp was on the low side, I had chills, my hands were like little blocks of ice. Could not warm up. Finally went to bed, cranked up the electric blanket to get warm. Much better today though was a bit tired, didn't keep me from the Y though.

My brother gets 100% of his care at the VA, BUT, I think the care you get varies based on where you live. The facilities and medicos in the Boston area are pretty good.
