Default New "sneakers"

As it has been a bit "slow" here lately I thought I would ask the question here. After returning from my 5150 mile road trip to the S2K Days I pulled the right side wheels of the S yesterday and it is obvious that I have to replace them before leaving for the "Fall Crawl". I have too much negative chamber in the rear suspension and the rears are "toast". Even without the negative chamber the rears are close to slicks after 20,530 miles on the S-02's. I know that many of you only get about 10K out of your rear tires. With that stated, I am "easy" on my equipment (as I have quite a few high way miles as well, even though I have a few track days on the S as well) I like to consider my driving style more like Jenson Button's and less like Louis Hamilton's (for those of you that do not follow Formula One Jenson is the Master of conserving his tires)

Anyway, after searching around Tire Racks web site and an exchanging a few E-mails with Jim I have decided on going with Bridgestone RE-11's. The good news is that they are less expensive than the S-02's and as tire technology "marches on" they out perform them as well (especially in the wet).

I found it interesting that there were few choices in the size needed for summer tires? Now that my S is a garage queen I am only interested in summer tires.

Is anyone else driving on these tires? I am going to call on Monday morning to order them.

Thanks.

I have them on one CR, they are an excellent summer performance tire. i cannot speak to their wet capabilities as that car never sees any rain. They are very stiff side walled tire, very controllable with excellent turn in qualities.

Matt, I thought I was the only one left still running SO2's, maybe I will be now that you are replacing yours.

Since I have an AP1 I do not have a very good assortment of tires to choose from. I am currently using Hankook Ventus RS3 225/50X16 on all four wheels. They are soft and stick good = 140 treadwear rating. They are cheap, about $500 a set. I get 9,000 - 10,000 miles out of a set.

I considered buying the RE-11's last time, but ended up with Potenza 760's instead. I had 750's on the car before.

The Jeep is getting new sneakers too. I picked up something that punctured the tire good. It must be at an angle as the plug didn't work. New tires were on the list for the Jeep anyway. Now's as good a time as any, I guess.
